Membership

The Mission of our Organization, as contained in its Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws, is to promote awareness of, and celebration of Tartan Day, April 6^th of each year, as a national holiday, in recognition of the many contributions made by Scots and Scottish-Americans to the development and well-being of the United States.  The National Capital Tartan Day Committee, Inc. (NCTDC) is a nonprofit membership organization, incorporated in 2002 in the District of Columbia.  Membership is open to all who support its mission and subscribe to its goals.

Annual activities (on or near the time of Tartan Day each year) include;

• Tartan Day Festival in Old Town Alexandria,
• Congressional Reception on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, to which all the members of the bipartisan Friends of Scotland Caucuses in the US Senate and the US House of Representatives are invited (about 60 legislators)
• An annual Symposium on a timely Scottish topic, held in conjunction with the Capitol Hill Reception
• Other events celebrating our Scottish heritage as decided upon by the membership
